Research has examined glutathione stores, liver markers and skin appearance. Some findings are encouraging; others are mixed or show no benefit.
These studies used different products, doses and populations. None tested Vyera. This is a selected research library, not a systematic review.
Liver research
Irie et al., 2016 · Liver-marker pilot · 3 months
Who and what: 15 people with biopsy-confirmed fatty liver: 5 with simple fatty liver and 10 with non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). Everyone took oral reduced glutathione, 300 mg daily, for 3 months. There was no control group.
Finding: the liver enzyme ALT and an oxidative-damage marker, 8-OHdG, decreased significantly in the NASH subgroup.
Limits: a small, uncontrolled study with a subgroup finding. It does not show reversal of fatty liver, prevention of progression or an effect from Vyera.

Honda et al., 2017 · Liver-marker pilot · 4 months
Who and what: 34 people with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease enrolled. After 3 months of diet-and-exercise guidance, 32 began oral glutathione, 300 mg daily, for 4 months; 29 completed the study. This was an open-label study without a control group.
Finding: ALT decreased. The study also reported improvements in triglycerides, non-esterified fatty acids and ferritin. A liver-fat measurement improved only in the subgroup whose ALT responded.
Limits: lifestyle changes and the lack of a control group make cause and effect uncertain. Overall liver-fat and liver-stiffness measurements did not improve significantly. This was not a Vyera trial.

Skin appearance
Arjinpathana & Asawanonda, 2012 · Controlled skin trial · 4 weeks
Who and what: 60 healthy medical students enrolled and completed this randomized, double-blind trial. They received oral glutathione capsules, 500 mg daily in two doses, or placebo for 4 weeks.
Finding: pigmentation measurements decreased more than with placebo at 2 of 6 sites: the right side of the face and the sun-exposed left forearm.
Limits: a short study with site-specific findings. It does not establish a general visible glow, long-term effects or results from Vyera.

Handog et al., 2016 · Skin lozenge pilot · 8 weeks
Who and what: 30 Filipino women with Fitzpatrick skin types IV or V received a glutathione lozenge daily for 8 weeks. This was an open-label, single-arm study. The accessible primary abstract does not report the dose or a separate completion count.
Finding: melanin measurements decreased from baseline, with changes reported from two weeks.
Limits: without a control group, the study cannot establish a treatment effect or a two-week results promise. It tested a lozenge, not Vyera, and was funded by Brady Pharma.

Weschawalit et al., 2017 · Controlled skin trial · 12 weeks
Who and what: 60 women enrolled and 57 completed a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial. Participants took reduced or oxidized oral glutathione, 250 mg daily, or placebo for 12 weeks.
Finding: some site-specific or subgroup measurements improved, but the overall pigmentation comparisons were not significant. A significant wrinkle finding concerned a sun-protected arm.
Limits: mixed findings in a small, specific population. An arm measurement does not establish facial anti-ageing benefits, and this trial did not test Vyera.

Glutathione stores and formulation
Richie et al., 2015 · Controlled oral trial · 6 months
Who and what: 54 healthy adults took part in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of non-liposomal oral glutathione at 250 or 1,000 mg daily for 6 months.
Finding: glutathione stores increased in several measured body compartments. In the higher-dose group, red-blood-cell, plasma and lymphocyte levels rose about 30–35% from baseline at six months.
Limits: laboratory changes do not establish liver-disease or skin benefits. This study tested another preparation and does not prove liposomal superiority or Vyera's effectiveness.

Sinha et al., 2018 · Liposomal pilot · 4 weeks
Who and what: 12 healthy adults aged 51–72 took Tri-Fortify Orange liposomal glutathione, 500 or 1,000 mg daily, for 4 weeks. They were assigned to two dose groups, with no placebo group.
Finding: several blood glutathione measurements increased, alongside encouraging changes in oxidative-stress and immune-cell markers.
Limits: a small, uncontrolled pilot funded by the tested product's manufacturer, Researched Nutritionals. Immune-cell markers do not prove fewer infections. The formulation was not Vyera.

Schmitt et al., 2015 · Sublingual crossover · 21-day periods
Who and what: 20 people with metabolic syndrome received three preparations in randomized order, each for 21 days with 14-day washouts: Sublinthion sublingual glutathione, 450 mg daily; oral glutathione capsules, 450 mg daily; and N-acetylcysteine (NAC), 200 mg daily.
Finding: the sublingual product improved plasma glutathione measurements and the reduced-to-oxidized glutathione ratio relative to oral glutathione. Plasma vitamin E also increased.
Limits: a small comparison of specific formulations. It does not establish clinical benefits or show that any liquid dropper product bypasses digestion or absorbs within seconds.

Prasad et al., 2026 · Liposomal absorption comparison · 24 hours
Who and what: 12 healthy adults, 6 per group, received a single 1 g dose of LipoDuo liposomal glutathione or plain glutathione in an open-label, parallel-group study. Plasma levels were measured over 24 hours.
Finding: the tested liposomal preparation produced a substantially higher peak plasma glutathione concentration.
Limits: a small absorption study with authors affiliated with the product developer. It does not establish clinical skin or liver benefits, or better absorption from Vyera. The paper's separate cell-culture wound-healing findings are not human clinical results.

Allen & Bradley, 2011 · Controlled oral trial · 4 weeks
Who and what: 40 adults without acute or chronic disease enrolled and 39 completed a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial. They took oral glutathione capsules, 500 mg twice daily (1,000 mg daily), or placebo for 4 weeks.
Finding: there was no significant improvement over placebo in glutathione status or the measured oxidative-stress markers.
Limits: a short trial of a different formulation. Its null result is part of the evidence and helps explain why findings from selected positive studies cannot settle overall effectiveness.

Changes in laboratory or skin measurements do not establish a noticeable benefit or a guaranteed result from this product. These ten entries exclude studies of glutathione combined with other active ingredients.
